Supported Education for Community Integration

Many mentally ill adults are emotionally and intellectually capable of integrating into regular social and educational frameworks, but they often need mentoring and special adjustments such as the services provided by the “Supported Education” program.

Gvanim, with the help of the Ministry of Education, is operating the “Supported Education” program to help people with emotional disabilities complete their education. As part of the program, participants complete 10-12 years of education, study for matriculation exams and join courses in computer training, English and more. Services include helping participants find and select appropriate courses, mentoring during the application process and support throughout the study period.

The program is open to adults with mental illness from Ashkelon, Kiryat Malachi, Ashdod, Kiryat Gat and the small communities around them.  The program is under the supervision of the Ministries of Health, Immigrant Absorption and Education.

Gvanim thanks its Program Partners: the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption, the Municipalities of Ashkelon and Kiryat Malachi, the National Insurance Institute.
