Treating Anxiety and Stress – Supporting Sderot’s Children
Sderot has been under Kasam rocket fire from the Gaza Strip since 2001; Sderot’s children under the age of 6 know of no life except one with daily Kasam attacks. Understandably, most of the city’s children display signs of emotional distress.
Gvanim’s program to treat anxiety and stress operates in early childhood frameworks and helps the children in day care and kindergarten cope with their fears and distress. The program’s goal is to help Sderot’s children function better, in general.
As part of the program, support groups and group therapy adjusted for young children provide services such as art therapy, psychodrama, zoo-therapy and more traditional psychotherapy.
Gvanim thanks its Program Partners; JDC-Israel, the Ministry of Education, the Municipality of Sderot/Dept of Social Services.
