Paramedical Treatment Unit

Last updated:  12.10.2009

Until the Paramedical Treatment Unit was established in 2000, there were no services in Sderot to diagnose and treat developmental delays during early childhood.  Today, the Paramedical Unit cares for about 150 children every year.

The unit is recognized by Israel’s Ministry of Health and acts as an extension of the Institute for Child Development of Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon.  It operates in partnership with the Shaar HaNegev Psychological Services Center.

The Unit’s professional staff includes social workers, developmental psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and physiotherapists.  It is one of the Early Childhood Center services that support the children of Sderot.

Gvanim thanks its Program Partners:  Ministry of Health; Heath Care Services; The Shaar HaNegev Psychological Services Center; Sderot Municipality/Departments of Social Welfare Services and Education; The Schusterman Family Foundation – Israel; The Buxenbaum – Neta Fund.
